Byakuya Kuchiki is the captain of the 6th Division and the brother of Rukia. He takes care of Rukia and his friends. Feared for his abilities, he possesses a special move that summons thousands of blades and rains them down on his foe like rain. Byakuya became the 28th head of the Kuchiki clan. Joshiro Ukitake was in the 13th Division and Rukai Kuchika replaced him. However, Ukitake died as the strongest captain during the last war. Jushiro Ukitake's lieutenant was Kaien Shiba, and Rukia Kuchiki took over after Shiba. For most of his life he housed the right arm of the Soul King Mimihagi in his body. Shinji is the current captain of the 5th Division and Momo Hinamori is its current lieutenant. He also worked as a recruiter and leader of the Visored. Shinji falls from the sky and hovers upside down over Ichigo Kurosaki while speaking to Orihime Inoue and Yasutora Sado. This happened after Shinji dispatched a hollow. Mayuri Kurotsuchi became captain of the 12th Division and second president of the Shinigami Research Institute. Nemu Kurotsuchi was his former lieutenant and the artificial "daughter". But Akon is his current lieutenant. Mayuri also worked as the third seat of the 12th Division under Kisuke Urahara. His face looks like a skeleton and is black and white in color. Mayuri has appeared in various arcs and has shown how powerful he is.

Gin Ichimaru appeared in bothmangaand Anime as the 3rd Division captain in the Gotei 13. But he ends up betraying the Soul Society and being stripped of his position.
