Bob Evans Restaurants was founded in 1948 by Bob Evans when he began processing and packaging sausages for his small restaurant in Gallipolis, Ohio. The sausages were produced on his farm in Rio Grande. His sausages were very tasty and grew in popularity, as did the number of customers who came to his farm and bought them in bulk.
In 1953, family and friends got together and founded Bob Evans Farms, Inc. In 1962, the large number of customers prompted Bob Evans to open the first company restaurant on the farm. It was called "The Sausage Shop".
The Bon Evans company was originally founded to make sausages because Mr. Evans raised pigs on his farm for their meat. He soon became overwhelmed with orders because his food was so delicious and popular. So he teamed up with his cousin Tim Evans of Evans Packing Co. to help him pack his orders. From there the company expanded.
Today there are 442 Bob Evans locations in 18 US states such as Kentucky, Ohio, Maryland, Michigan, West Virginia, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Florida, Texas and more. Most restaurants are located in the Mid-Atlantic and Midwestern regions of the United States. None of these are franchised, but all are company-owned.
Bob Evans' menu has a wide variety of options, but customer favorites include cornbread, mashed potatoes, and steak. Meals served here tend to be filling and hearty. For example, their mashed potatoes have a creamy and a bit buttery flavor. Also, the menu features some very creative items like the macaroni and cheese sandwich.

The atmosphere at Bob Evans restaurants is relaxing and comfortable. In addition, the staff is friendly and welcoming and will ensure that your order is served on time. However, you should know that there can be longer waiting times in the morning and that it is better to arrive between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. and 18:00 to avoid the dinner rush.
